Prospects for Implementing Rural Infrastructure Projects Discussed with UNDP Representatives
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Samandar Sadullaev held a meeting with Akiko Fuji, the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.
The meeting reviewed the current status of the jointly implemented projects “Sustainable Rural Development” and “Integrated Rural Development” (Phase II), the results achieved to date, existing challenges, and possible solutions.
Discussions touched on conducting joint monitoring visits to regions covered by the projects, as well as showcasing accumulated experience at regional and national forums.
Particular attention was given to project activities in key areas such as promoting efficient use of water and electricity at the local level, expanding the application of green energy technologies, improving access to safe drinking water, enhancing schools with modern information technologies, introducing resource-saving methods in infrastructure facilities, scaling up the use of modern irrigation systems, and boosting incomes in remote regions by creating new jobs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides exchanged views on tasks and activities planned for the second half of 2025 and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation for the effective advancement of the projects.
