Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 March this year, in Ashgabat, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Chairman of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Mammetkhan Chakiev.

At the meeting, prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of transport were discussed. In particular, the parties exchanged views on the expansion of transport and transit communications with the elimination of some of the difficulties that arise in the process of cargo transportation.

The issues of unification and harmonization of tariffs and duties were also considered to simplify and speed up border operations in order to quickly carry out the process of transporting goods.

At the same time, the Uzbek side proposed switching to the digital E-permit system, which stipulates the electronic exchange of permit forms for international road transport. During the talks, issues related to the development of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran transport corridor were also noted.

The meeting participants agreed to continue discussing the development of new transport and transit corridors, and also identified the next stages of improving and expanding bilateral cooperation.
