Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 April, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva received the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of Great Britain David Cameron.

Issues of expanding the political and diplomatic dialogue between Uzbekistan and Great Britain, as well as continuing constructive cooperation in the international arena, strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations, and intensifying parliamentary ties were discussed.

During the dialogue, it was emphasized that in recent years relations between our countries have reached a high level.

During the conversation, the importance of implementing joint projects in the development of a green economy and strengthening interaction in the fight against the consequences of climate change was noted.

In addition, the development of educational, cultural and humanitarian ties was noted as a priority. The practical aspects of training qualified specialists in modern fields in higher educational institutions and expanding educational programs taught in English are considered.

David Cameron emphasized that significant work is being done in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights, in particular, to introduce the principles of decent work, achieve gender equality, and combat domestic violence.

During the meeting, it was noted that interparliamentary cooperation has intensified significantly in recent years. The parties exchanged views on further expanding the dialogue in this direction.
