Prosecutor General’s Office: Nafasov was not involved in the criminal case as a suspect or accused

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Tashkent City Prosecutor’s Office is conducting investigative actions in a criminal case against a number of officials of the National Karate Federation of Uzbekistan. This was stated by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“On the official website of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan on 23 January 2019, news was published “Again stepped on the same rake. A criminal case has been opened against Nurhon Nafasov,” the press service said.

In this regard, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office categorically states that official information regarding criminal cases initiated and under investigation can be presented only by authorized investigative or supervisory authorities.

"We also recall that the dissemination of various interpretations of information related to the circumstances of the investigation and the persons involved in it contradicts the provisions of Article 26 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and may harm the honor and dignity of the individual,” the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

The prosecutor’s office of the city of Tashkent carried out investigative actions in a criminal case against a number of officials of the National Karate Federation of Uzbekistan, the statement said.

At the moment, in the circumstances established in the criminal case, no one, in particular, N.Nafasov, has been prosecuted as a suspect or accused, the Prosecutor General’s Office stresses.
