Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin held a working meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev.

Alexander Bastrykin noted that today’s meeting was a good opportunity to exchange assessments of the current situation and prospects for joint work, given the long break caused by the pandemic.

The first meeting, held in March 2020 in Tashkent, marked the beginning of the constructive and productive development of bilateral cooperation between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed issues on the bilateral agenda, expressing interest in the further dynamic development of full-format contacts between law enforcement agencies of both countries.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of friendly mutual understanding and became another step towards the development of international cooperation between the Investigative Committee of Russia and law enforcement agencies of the CIS member states.

Alexander Bastrykin emphasized that in conditions when crime is becoming more interregional and transnational, interaction between departments is becoming an important tool in the fight against crime.

Bastrykin highly appreciated the quality and efficiency of legal assistance from Uzbekistan, as well as the positive experience in the exchange of knowledge and experience in combating criminal activity.

Alexander Bastrykin and Nigmatilla Yuldashev emphasized the need to sign an updated Cooperation Program between the Investigative Committee of Russia and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan, which was first signed during Bastrykin’s visit to Uzbekistan in 2020.

The parties also highly appreciated the relations between the two countries, based on long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual respect, and expressed confidence in further strategic partnership and alliance in the interests of ensuring stability and security in the Central Asian region.
