Progress on Data Center project in Uzbekistan discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 September 2024, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks with Rajit Nanda, Executive Director of DataVolt.

The meeting focused on the progress of the investment project to establish a commercial data center in Uzbekistan, being implemented by the Saudi company.

Discussions covered the alignment of current work with agreed schedules and potential ideas for expanding long-term collaboration.

As a result of the negotiations, priority actions and interaction formats were agreed upon to expedite the implementation of the discussed initiatives.

The data center, with a capacity of 10 MW, will be located at IT Park in Tashkent and will provide computing power for its residents.

The investment in the future data center is estimated at US$150 million. Additionally, DataVolt plans to invest up to US$5 billion in projects in Uzbekistan by 2030.

One of the projects includes the creation of a data center with a capacity of 250 MW in New Tashkent on a 25-hectare site. Another planned project is a data center with a capacity of 40 MW in the Bukhara region, with potential expansion to 250 MW.

All data centers will utilize renewable energy sources. The investor will fund the project through its own resources and loans from international financial institutions.
