Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 July, a video-conference was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on increasing employment of youth and women, providing them with a source of income.
During the meeting, the head of state emphasized the importance of solving the problem of employment among youth and women, outlined areas requiring special attention, including issues of training and employment of school graduates.
In this regard, the question was raised about the introduction of a system of vocational training in schools for relevant and popular specialties. For this, starting from the 7th grade, the interests of students in certain professions are revealed. Starting from grades 8-9, students will acquire knowledge and skills that will become the basis for mastering such promising professions as a programmer, designer, translator. From the 10th grade, students will be trained in such professions in demand on the labor market as robotics and programming.
Among other important issues raised at the meeting is the analysis of the current situation on the labor market, the willingness of young people to provide it. In this regard, the President emphasized the importance of staffing industries with qualified personnel.
It should be noted that in order to train IT specialists, the megaproject “One Million Uzbek Coders” is being implemented in the republic today, aimed at free distance learning of high-level sections of the population of relevant IT specialties through a specialized online portal (uzbekcoders.uz )
In order to widely attract young people to participate in the project, the President at a meeting on June 8 set the task of educating 100,000 people by the end of the year and another 150,000 in the first half of 2021. The instruction was given to improve the subject “Computer science” taught in the 5th grade in schools, and to include disciplines from the project “One Million Uzbek Programmers” in its program.
The questions raised by the head of state at the meeting once again clearly showed how urgent and important the issue of training qualified personnel for economic sectors, including for ICT.
