Economy 04/03/2009 Private farms’ gross output makes up 3.4 trln soums in 2008

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross output of private farms was 3.406 trillion soums in 2008, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. Share of private farms in total volume of gross agricultural output was 32.5%.

Total area of lands allotted to private farms was 5.896 million hectares. As of 1 January 2009, private farms had 480,700 heads of cattle (including 162,400 cows), 1.007 million sheep and goats and 2.538 million heads of poultry.

The number of cattle increased by 59,700 (14.2%), cows - 25,300 (18.5%), sheep and goats - 135,800 (15.6%), poultry - 1.225 million (1.9 times) compared to 1 January 2008.

Share of private farms in total production of grains in 2008 was 79.2% (79.8% in 2007), raw cotton - 90.1% (99%), potatoes - 16.2% (15%), vegetables - 32.9% (33.2% ), melons and gourds - 47.1% (49.5%), fruit and berries - 46.3% (45.7%), grapes - 51.5% (54.5%).
