Priority tasks of the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis defined

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Today, the first meeting of the Youth Parliament under the upper house of the Oliy Majlis took place, with the participation of Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva.

The event gathered senators, chairpersons of local Councils of People’s Deputies, members of their permanent committees, active youth from the regions, and media representatives.

It was noted that over the past five years, working closely with senators, the Youth Parliament has gained significant experience and achieved certain results, confirming its importance. A practical confirmation of this is the fact that two members of the Youth Parliament were elected as deputies of the Legislative Chamber, and 20 were elected to local Councils.

Given the expiration of the term of the previous composition, a new composition of the Youth Parliament has been formed. The new composition consists of 100 members, including 84 deputies under the age of 30, selected based on recommendations from local Councils, 10 from the Youth Affairs Agency, and 6 from the Senate committee. The composition includes 13 individuals awarded state honors, 11 graduates of foreign universities, 95% with higher education, and 30% women. The new members include lawyers, economists, educators, entrepreneurs, ecologists, as well as specialists in the fields of culture, sports, and healthcare.

During the meeting, an organizational issue was addressed: Laylo Aslonova was unanimously elected as the Chairperson of the Youth Parliament, and Ibrokhimjon Juraev and Azizbek Ochilboev were elected as Deputy Chairpersons. The chairpersons and members of the committees were also elected.

In her speech, Tanzila Narbaeva emphasized the priority tasks of the Youth Parliament. In particular, she highlighted the importance of active participation in the legislative process, contributing proposals for improving legislation in the field of youth policy, and working to improve youth employment and address systemic issues.

Additionally, she noted the necessity of the Youth Parliament’s active participation in crime prevention among youth, combating violence against children and women, and fostering cooperation with youth parliaments in other countries.

Recommendations were also made for collaborating with the media to broaden the coverage of the Youth Parliament’s projects and events and to organize work based on a clear media plan.
