“Princess of oysters” to be shown in Ferghana Valley
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Embassy of Germany in Uzbekistan will organize a show of silent film “Princess of oysters” in three cities of Ferghana Valley.

The film was shown in Tashkent in September 2013. It was demonstrated with musical support of the Uzbek State Chamber Orchestra of Folk Instruments “Sogdiana” at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan.

The film will be shown in Ferghana Art College on 18 November, Andijan regional theatre of musical drama and comedy on 19 November and Namangan Youth Center on 20 November 2013.

The film is from the early work director Ernst Lubitsch, who was born in Berlin. The premier of the film “The Princess oysters” was held in 1919 in Berlin. The comedy “The Princess oysters” is an hour story of a billionaire’s daughter , who is in search of a groom and eventually mistakenly marries a servant of the bankrupt prince.

Ernst Lubitsch (1892 - 1947) was a brilliant German director of graceful comedy films with tragic and satirical undertones. He worked in Germany for a short time before he moved to Hollywood in 1992.

Orchestra “Sogdiana” will provide musical accompaniment to silent film, using traditional Uzbek instruments. Conductor and artistic director of the orchestra Feruza Abdurahimova with the band selected and orchestrated compositions.

The event is directed at improving German-Uzbek cooperation in culture sphere. The entry is free.
