Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 September 2024, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on measures to enhance the primary health care system and implement health insurance mechanisms.
The primary health care system plays a crucial role in improving public health, early detection, and treatment of diseases. The President emphasized the need for a phased approach to implementing reforms in this area, with a thorough understanding of the needs and demands of the people, especially those in remote regions.
Another reform in the healthcare sector is the introduction of state medical insurance. Initial work and preparations have already been initiated in this direction.
The proposed plan is to implement the state medical insurance system starting from October 1 of this year in Tashkent city and the Syrdarya region, and from January 1, 2025, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
By the end of 2024, the “Electronic Clinic” and “Electronic Hospital” information systems will be introduced. Medical staff will receive training on their use, and institutions will be equipped with the necessary technology and network infrastructure.
The significance of this system lies in applying results-based financing methods in healthcare.
Medical services and pharmaceuticals covered by insurance will be funded by the state budget, with no additional charges to the public.
The implementation of the state medical insurance system is planned to be extended to other regions by the end of 2026.
