Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- This season, the first large batches of peach and nectarine appeared on the wholesale markets of the capital of Uzbekistan in late May - early June, and a steady downward trend immediately formed in the dynamics of wholesale prices for these products. And over the past three weeks, there has been a rapid decline in prices for peach and nectarine. Almost a month after the appearance of the first batches of these products on the wholesale markets, their prices have fallen by 2.5 times, EastFruit analysts say.

According to EastFruit price monitoring, from June 2 to June 30, 2023, the average wholesale price for peach and nectarine in Uzbekistan decreased from 27,000 to 11,000 soums/kg (from US$2.37 to US$0.95), i.e. 2.5 times in almost one month. At the same time, over the past three weeks, wholesale prices for these products differ from last year’s levels by no more than 20%.

The rapid decline in prices for peach / nectarine in Uzbekistan, in turn, contributes to an increase in the volume of shipments of these products to foreign markets. It should be noted that peach and nectarine are one of the most important export positions of Uzbekistan in the segment of fresh fruits and vegetables. In 2022, peach and nectarine ranked second in terms of importance in Uzbekistan’s export revenue in the fresh fruit segment, second only to fresh table grapes.

This season, the export of peaches and nectarines from Uzbekistan started in the third decade of May, at about the same time as last year.

According to preliminary trade statistics, in May-June 2023, Uzbekistan exported 20.9 thousand tons of peach and nectarine, which is 22% more than in the same period of last year.
