Press Secretary of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan: The Russian Federation’s proposal to build schools in Uzbekistan was interpreted incorrectly

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s proposal to build schools in Uzbekistan with instruction in Russian was interpreted incorrectly. This was stated by the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Bekzod Khidoyatov.

On 18 September, during the fourth meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of governments of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, the head of the Russian government, Mikhail Mishustin, announced the Russian side’s readiness to build several schools in Uzbekistan with instruction in Russian according to Russian programs if the Uzbek side is interested.

In turn, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov noted that Uzbekistan accepts proposals for the construction of schools with Russian language of instruction with great gratitude.

Bekzod Khidoyatov noted that in world experience there is a tradition when countries, on the basis of official agreements, build schools and similar social facilities on the territory of another state. “This is seen as mutual social assistance,” he added.

At the same time, the educational programs of schools built by foreign countries are first carefully studied by specialists from the point of view of national customs, values and traditions, history, current legislation, and current educational standards, Khidoyatov said.

The press secretary of the head of the Government of Uzbekistan noted that the school will receive a license if the school proposed for construction and its program meet the above requirements.
