Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 3 April, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov, who arrived in Samarkand to participate in the first Central Asia – European Union summit.

President Berdymukhamedov conveyed warm greetings to President Mirziyoyev from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed further developing Uzbek-Turkmen relations, strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership. They specifically highlighted the steady growth in trade turnover, which surpassed 1.1 billion dollars last year.

The leaders also reviewed successful cooperative projects in various sectors, including industry, energy, transport, agriculture, and water management, with a particular focus on the creation of a cross-border trade zone Shavat – Dashoguz. Special attention was given to preparations for upcoming bilateral meetings and multilateral events at the highest level, as well as promoting joint projects of multifaceted partnership.
