Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the "Kuksaroy" residence, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov held a meeting in a narrow format.
During the meeting, current issues of Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation were discussed.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and particularly noted that in recent years, thanks to joint efforts, a good foundation has been laid for a significant expansion of multifaceted interaction on a long-term basis.
It was emphasized that the signing of the Joint Declaration on the further deepening and expansion of comprehensive strategic partnership relations within the framework of this visit confirms the mutual desire to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level.
The necessity of enhancing the effectiveness of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, foreign policy and sectoral agencies, and continuing mutual support within international and regional platforms, including the United Nations, WTO, Consultative Meetings of Heads of states of the Region, and the "Central Asia plus" formats, was noted.
The importance of forming a new economic cooperation agenda was highlighted.
The relevance of developing comprehensive measures to bring the trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years was underscored. A business forum was successfully held on the eve of this visit, resulting in a package of new agreements.
During this visit, cooperation projects in the field of renewable energy sources, automotive manufacturing, and the textile industry will be launched.
Priority attention was given to the prompt practical implementation of strategic regional projects, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambarata-1 Hydroelectric Power Station.
New project proposals in the development of transport and energy infrastructure were considered.
The presidents stated the importance of further expanding interregional cooperation, including within the Council of Khokims of Border Regions.
Mutually beneficial cooperation in agriculture and water management, ecology, security, and other areas was also discussed in detail.
The activation of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was noted with satisfaction. This week, the Days of Kyrgyz Culture are being held in our country. The second Rectors’ Forum was successfully held in Samarkand on the eve of this meeting. The parties agreed to prepare a calendar of cultural events for the coming years.
The heads of states also exchanged views on regional agenda issues of mutual interest.
