Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan discuss progress on joint projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the trilateral summit in Khujand, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.
At the start of the meeting, the leaders exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of the spring holiday of Navruz and the sacred month of Ramadan, wishing peace, prosperity, and well-being to their brotherly nations.
Both sides highly praised the outcomes of the trilateral negotiations, with the key result being the signing of the Treaty on the Junction Point of the State Borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
They expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics in implementing agreements reached at the highest level. Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 70%, and industrial cooperation in various economic sectors is actively developing, supported by the operations of a joint Investment Fund.
During the talks, the leaders discussed prospects for accelerating the implementation of major regional projects in the energy and transport sectors, including the construction of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway.
The heads of state reaffirmed their commitment to fostering intensive interregional ties and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.
The presidents also exchanged views on the schedule and key agenda items of upcoming high-level events.
