After official welcoming ceremony at Akorda, the presents of two states held negotiations in face-to-face and expanded formats. The leaders of two nationals considered political cooperation, stability and security in Central Asia, expanding trade-economic, investment and cultural-humanitarian, as well as border cooperation.

President of Kazakhstan congratulated Islam Karimov and people of Uzbekistan with the Independence Day and wished success to the country.

Nursultan Nazarbaev said that Uzbekistan made significant achievements in economic, social, public and political life, education, culture under guidance of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov. He added that Uzbekistan’s authority is growing in the world.

He said that Kazakhstan is happy for progress in Uzbekistan and wishes peace, well-being and prosperity to Uzbek people. “We consider Uzbekistan as good neighbor and strategic partner in Central Asia. Kazakhstan is open for and has intention to have close relations with Uzbekistan,” Kazakh leader said. Kazakh President said that he was always for deepening and expanding bilateral relations.

Nursultan Nazarbaev said that mutual visits helped to stimulate cooperation between two states. He said that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will mark 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations in November 2012 and called to organize solemn ceremonies on this occasion.

In his turn, Islam Karimov expressed gratitude for warm welcome and hospitality, and his deep respect to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev and people of Kazakhstan.

He said that Uzbekistan highly rates historic friendly and good neighborhood relations, common values and interests. He said that common roots serve as strong foundation for development of bilateral relations.

Uzbek President said that the current visit of the Uzbek delegation and meeting of two presidents help to discuss many actual issues. He added that two presidents should meet frequently to exchange opinion on actual issues.

At the end of the meeting, the sides underlined necessity to strengthen friendly relations and further strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
