Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 April, a telephone conversation took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

During the conversation, the two leaders held detailed discussions on further deepening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance. Special attention was given to the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in August 2024.

The positive results of the Year of Economic Cooperation were noted with satisfaction. Since the beginning of this year, mutual trade turnover has increased by 20 percent. Joint projects are actively underway in the fields of automotive manufacturing, textile and electrical industries, energy, agriculture, tourism, and other sectors.

A vibrant program of cultural and humanitarian exchanges is also being successfully implemented, strengthening the bonds of friendship between the peoples of both countries.

The leaders emphasized the importance of thorough preparation for upcoming high-level events in 2025, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, forums of regions and university rectors, as well as major cultural events.

The conversation also included an exchange of views on pressing regional issues. The schedule of upcoming multilateral events was discussed, including meetings within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States.
