President visits “Urganch Cluster” textile complex in Khorezm region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the newly established “Urganch Cluster” textile complex in the Khorezm region to review its operations.

Established five years ago, the cluster is a fully vertically integrated system encompassing all stages of textile production — from cotton cultivation to garment manufacturing. The cluster employs 3,000 people.

It processes cotton grown on 8,500 hectares of land using its own ginning and oil-extracting plants. In recent years, spinning and weaving capacities have been significantly expanded. The launch of two new enterprises equipped with modern machinery from Germany, Japan, and Türkiye has further enhanced production capabilities.

A training and practical center also operates within the cluster, preparing future seamstresses and designers who later secure employment at the cluster’s enterprises.

As a result of these initiatives, production volumes are set to increase significantly. Annually, the cluster plans to produce approximately 10,800 tonnes of yarn and 3 million units of finished garments.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev toured the new factories, observed the production process and finished products, and spoke with female workers, inquiring about their working conditions and wages.

Most of the products are intended for export, with the cluster’s annual export potential estimated at US$28 million.

The President offered recommendations on expanding the product range, improving quality, increasing exports, and reducing production costs through greater energy efficiency.
