President: Uzbekistan plans to increase renewable energy share to 40% by 2030

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced at the informal summit of the Turkic States Organization in Shusha about the country’s plans to increase the share of renewable energy in the overall energy balance to 40% by 2030.

"In Uzbekistan, we have set ourselves the goal of radically increasing the capacities of renewable energy and achieving its share in the energy balance to 40 percent by 2030," emphasized the head of state.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan, together with its partners, is launching new wind and solar power stations with a total capacity of 2 gigawatts annually.

"These projects are implemented based on the principles of public-private partnership with the support of direct foreign investments," added the President.

He also highlighted the start of work with Kazakhstan on the construction of hydroelectric power stations in neighboring Kyrgyzstan.

"I believe it is time to adopt the concept of the ‘Turkic Movement Towards Green Energy’ to expand cooperation in this sphere," noted the President of Uzbekistan.
