President Reviews Reforms and New Projects in Namangan Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 July, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report on the current state of ongoing reforms, the outcomes of implemented measures, and plans for the execution of new projects in the Namangan region.

It should be recalled that a presidential resolution dated 2 December 2024 outlined priority measures aimed at deepening socio-economic transformations in the region, fostering a favorable investment climate, and promoting entrepreneurship.

Under the approved program, the region is set to attract $4.2 billion in investments in 2025, achieve $1 billion in exports, create 323,000 new jobs, and lift 55,000 families out of poverty.

Small business and entrepreneurship play a central role in fulfilling these objectives, currently engaging 82 percent of the region's employable population. Since the beginning of the year, Namangan has already attracted approximately $1.6 billion in investments.

However, it was noted that the majority of these funds were directed toward the regional center and nearby districts, while areas such as Mingbulak, Naryn, Uychi, and Chartak still require intensified investment activity. In the export sector, there is also a need to diversify the product range and unlock the economic potential of remote districts.

The region's agricultural sector is showing strong productivity. For example, in the Yangikurgan district, income per hectare of farmland exceeds $20,000.

To capitalize on such opportunities more effectively, the President has initiated comprehensive administrative and economic reforms at the local level. As part of these efforts, a "reform headquarters" was established in Namangan, composed of leading specialists, successful entrepreneurs, and international experts. Together, they developed an additional investment project package worth $1 billion.

During the meeting, officials presented these initiatives to the President, emphasizing that their implementation would create 12,000 new jobs, contribute 200 billion soums to the state budget, and generate $160 million in export revenue.

Examples of targeted district-level initiatives include the development of intensive fish farming in household plots in the Naryn district and the organization of duck breeding in Mingbulak. These projects are vital not only for food security but also for employment generation.

The President stressed the importance of replicating successful practices in other regions of the country. Currently, Namangan region has around 55,000 unemployed citizens and 44,000 families in need. In this regard, the President set the task of directing these groups toward acquiring in-demand professions, facilitating employment, and creating conditions for earning income from home.

Furthermore, specific instructions were given to improve the social environment and transform mahallas into areas free from offenses.z
