President of Uzbekistan writes off debts for pension overpayments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On additional measures to create favorable conditions for certain categories of working retired people” on 28 December 2017.

According to the document, starting from 1 January 2018, working pensioners with honorary titles “People’s ...”, “Honored Worker ...” and “Honored ...” will receive their pensions in full.

Pensioners, who exclusively receive income in the form of royalties (fees) for the creation and use of works of science, literature and art, and subject to the availability of an employment contract, will also receive their full pensions.

Uzbek President wrote off the amounts of balances as of 1 January 2018 of excessively paid pensions and benefits revealed by the results of inspections of the correctness of the accrual of prescribed pensions and benefits to citizens, who have reached the age of 65 and over, as well as those appointed for the period up to 2010.

The President introduced procedure according to which in case the pensioner disagrees with the decision of the district (city) department of the Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan to retain the excessively paid pensions, the arrears are recovered in court, but not more than three years from the date of its detection .

Shavkat Mirziyoyev agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Finance to provide territorial units of the off-budget Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance to assist citizens in preparing suits in courts to confirm the length of service, in the presence of grounds provided for by law.

The President recommended that courts consider cases of individuals confirming the length of service in terms of establishing the legal fact of the work.
