President of Uzbekistan ratifies alliance treaty with Tajikistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a law ratifying the treaty on allied relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan.
This document, signed on 18 April 2024, in Dushanbe during the Uzbek leader’s state visit, marks a new stage in bilateral cooperation, elevating it from a level of friendship and strategic partnership to a full-fledged alliance.
The treaty outlines expanded cooperation in various areas, including the peaceful resolution of regional conflicts based on international law, continued efforts to demarcate the state border, implementation of joint projects in the water and energy sector, development of parliamentary diplomacy, and strengthening bilateral ties.
Particular emphasis is placed on deepening collaboration in economic, investment, scientific, technological, cultural, and educational spheres, as well as in sports and tourism.
An essential aspect of the agreement is the coordination of efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, and transnational organized crime, contributing to regional security and stability.
