Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on 19 September, proposed creating a Working Group at the United Nations to promote the development of youth in Central Asia.

“For Central Asia, where almost half of the population is youth, issues related to the younger generation and the realization of their potential are especially important. In order to strengthen cooperation in this area, the states of the region recently signed an Agreement on the General Directions of Youth Policy,” Mirziyoyev said.

“At the same time, we are interested in establishing effective cooperation in this area with the United Nations and its specialized structures, as well as in studying the best practices of other regions of the world,” he added.

“In this regard, I propose to create a Working Group at the United Nations to promote the development of youth in Central Asia. Within its framework, it is advisable to develop the program “Youth Agenda for Central Asia - 2030,” the head of Uzbekistan noted.
