Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The issues of popularizing football in our country and joint holding of major events were considered during the meeting of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the head of the International Football Federation, Gianni Infantino, held on 5 May.

The head of an authoritative global sports organization highly appreciated and fully supported the ongoing reforms in our country to develop football, broadly involve young people and girls in it, educate talents, create an accessible and modern infrastructure, and train qualified coaches and industry specialists.

He sincerely congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan on the recent victory of the youth national team in the Asian Cup, which, according to him, was another confirmation of the effectiveness of ongoing practical work in this direction.

During the meeting, with particular satisfaction, the highest level of close and fruitful cooperation between the Uzbekistan Football Association and FIFA was noted, within the framework of which measures are currently being taken to create a modern football cluster in our country.

Particular attention was paid to the preparation and holding of world sports events and championships in Uzbekistan, the expansion of technical assistance in the preparation of the national team, the development of infrastructure and capacity building of our Association, as well as the development of a mechanism for selecting talented football players.
