Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a state visit to the People’s Republic of China, visited Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The national anthems of Uzbekistan and China were played, after which the President of Uzbekistan laid a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, paying tribute to the fighters who gave their lives for national independence and freedom of the Chinese people in the 19th-20th centuries.
Tiananmen Square has traditionally been considered the symbolic heart of the Chinese nation.
On 1 October 1949, the founding of the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed here. The monument to national heroes was built in the middle of the 20th century.
