Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 December, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in an informal meeting of the heads of CIS states, held in St. Petersburg.
The meeting was also attended by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhammedov.
During the meeting, the results of the joint work of CIS countries in 2024 were reviewed, and priority tasks for the next year were identified. Special attention was given to the expansion of intra-regional trade and cooperation, particularly through the removal of trade barriers.
The leaders also discussed prospects for developing partnerships in new areas such as the creation of engineering schools, the development of internet technologies, big data industries, the creative economy, green energy, peaceful nuclear technology, and the implementation of digital solutions.
Additionally, current regional and international issues were addressed, along with practical cooperation within the CIS to combat common challenges and threats.
