President of Uzbekistan notes the importance of forming a new economic agenda for a strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 September, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Republic of Korea led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of this country Choo Kyung-ho.

Issues of further strengthening the special strategic partnership and enhancing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea were considered.

Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol to the President of Uzbekistan.

The consistent development of bilateral collaboration based on deep historical friendship, similar mentality, traditions, and values was noted with particular satisfaction.

The President of Uzbekistan dwelled separately on forming a new economic agenda for full-scale cooperation with South Korea.

In recent years, mutual trade and investment indicators have been steadily growing. Last year, trade increased by 24 percent. About 1,000 joint ventures are operating in Uzbekistan, and Korean investments have exceeded US$7 billion.

A high assessment was given to the long-term fruitful partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the Korea Eximbank, and its funds, the total portfolio of projects worth more than US$3 billion.

Among the successfully implemented joint projects are a Children’s Multidisciplinary Clinic, a Textile Technopark, and centers for agricultural engineering and rare metals.

Enhancing technological and investment partnerships with leading South Korean companies, the acceleration of socially significant programs in education and healthcare, the promotion of joint projects in infrastructure, green energy, public administration, the financial sector, digitalization, and training of personnel have been defined as priority areas for practical interaction.

The ample opportunities for establishing productive contacts between the regions of the two countries and intensifying cultural and humanitarian exchanges were emphasized.
