Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 January, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu, who is on a visit to Uzbekistan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Russian defense ministry conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The talks focused on the further development of Uzbek-Russian relations, encompassing comprehensive strategic partnership and allied ties. Special attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Russia to Uzbekistan in May 2024.

Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries under the adopted programs and cooperation plans.
