Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 September 2024, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the ongoing construction of the Tashkent-East Airport.
As part of the country’s transportation infrastructure development, alongside the modernization and commissioning of airports in Samarkand, Termez, Muynak, Zaamin, Kokand, and Urgench, the Tashkent-East Airport is also being reconstructed.
The new airport has already completed the construction of a 4-kilometer-long runway capable of accommodating large aircraft. Currently, construction is underway for two terminals, a parking apron, and hangars for business aviation and high-ranking guests. The airport will be equipped with modern ICAO Category III-A radio and meteorological equipment to ensure safe takeoffs and landings even in adverse weather conditions.
During the visit, a presentation was made of the external and internal design of the terminals. The President emphasized that the facade of the buildings should reflect the national style, with warm colors and features designed to accommodate high-level guests and host official meetings.
The airport is located near the “Yangi Uzbekistan” park and the Olympic Village. The President instructed to green these areas, plant flowers, and use decorative elements reflecting Uzbek culture.
