President of Uzbekistan holds meeting with UN-Habitat Executive Director
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 April, within the framework of the Samarkand Climate Forum, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Anaclaudia Rossbach.
The head of UN-Habitat conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from UN Secretary-General António Guterres to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, the prospects for developing a multifaceted partnership with this prestigious UN organization in the areas of sustainable urban development, infrastructure modernization, and improving the quality of life for citizens were discussed. Anaclaudia Rossbach praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan in the field of urbanization, including the development of "smart" and "green" city concepts, as well as the creation of a comfortable urban environment.
Special attention was given to expanding cooperation in areas such as the introduction of digital solutions in urban management, the development of "green" construction standards, and the launch of a special program for adapting urban environments to climate change.
The discussions also covered the organization of World Clean-Up Day in Uzbekistan and the opening of a UN-Habitat office in Tashkent. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to adopt a "roadmap" for priority areas of practical cooperation.
