Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Today, on 6 September, in Moscow, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a conversation with Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin. The meeting took place at the Government House.

The President of Uzbekistan noted that bilateral relations between Russia and Uzbekistan continue to develop fruitfully, pointing to a completely new level of comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between the two countries. Good results have already been achieved in many areas.

Interregional relations play a special role in Russian-Uzbek cooperation. Thus, according to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, he was impressed by the Forum of Interregional Cooperation held in Kazan. The leaders of both Russian and Uzbek regions are already well acquainted with each other, which has a positive effect on the interaction between the two countries.

The head of Uzbekistan also focused on the recent conference of university rectors of Russia and the Republic of Uzbekistan, at which cooperation in the field of education was discussed, as well as at the Russian-Uzbek Medical Forum, noting the importance of holding such events.

The head of the Russian government emphasized that this is Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s first visit to Russia after his election as president of Uzbekistan, and expressed interest in developing bilateral cooperation.

Mutual trade and economic turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan exceeded 612 billion rubles. In January–July, the volume of mutual trade increased by 14.5% and exceeded 470 billion rubles.

Russian companies are successfully operating in the Uzbekistan market. Major projects are being implemented in energy, agriculture, transport infrastructure, and the digital economy.

Interregional cooperation is developing: constituent entities of the Russian Federation work directly with partners from Uzbekistan. Among the leaders are Moscow, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions.

Countries value cultural and humanitarian ties. “Russian Seasons” were held in Uzbekistan, within the framework of which exhibitions and master classes were held. In turn, the premiere of the play “Lazgi - Dance of Soul and Love” performed by the national ballet of Uzbekistan took place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater.

Cooperation in the field of education is actively developing. Currently, 63 thousand students from Uzbekistan are studying in Russia. The government quota has been increased. In addition, 15 branches of Russian universities have been opened in the republic.

Mikhail Mishustin noted the close interaction between the two countries within the EAEU, in particular in the field of industrial cooperation, and also invited Uzbek colleagues to take part in the international exhibition “Russia”, which will be held on the territory of VDNKh in Moscow.
