Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the sidelines of the COP29 climate conference in Baku, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Key issues related to strengthening cooperation for Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO were discussed. The President expressed satisfaction with the ongoing work of the Working Group meetings and the progress of negotiations with WTO member states.
The process of harmonizing Uzbekistan’s national legislation with WTO standards, including the elimination of export subsidies, is actively progressing. Special attention was given to enhancing the skills of Uzbek specialists in international trade matters.
The two sides also exchanged views on support measures aimed at successfully completing negotiations and securing Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO in the coming years.
