Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent condolences to U.S. President Joe Biden following the tragic events in New Orleans, where numerous lives were lost in a terrorist attack.
On behalf of the people of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed sincere words of sympathy and support to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire American people. In his message, he wished a swift recovery to the injured and expressed Uzbekistan’s readiness to provide all necessary assistance during this difficult time for the United States.
On 1 January 2025, a tragic incident occurred in New Orleans, the largest city in the state of Louisiana. Around 3:15 a.m. Central Time, a pickup truck drove into a crowd celebrating New Year’s Eve at the intersection of Bourbon and Canal Streets. The driver then exited the vehicle and opened fire with a rifle, resulting in the deaths of 15 people, including the suspect, and about 45 others, including two police officers, were injured.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified the suspect as a U.S. military veteran. During the investigation, it was revealed that the man had planted two explosive devices in the city prior to the attack.
