President of Uzbekistan discusses expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with Prime Minister of Pakistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During his working visit to Astana, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif.

The discussions focused on the current issues of further developing Uzbek-Pakistani relations of strategic partnership, particularly in trade, economic, investment, and transport-communication spheres.

Active contacts at various levels, growth in mutual trade volumes and freight transportation, as well as an increase in the number of joint ventures, were noted.

President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of continuing work to create favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement.

The need for adopting a joint Program of Industrial Cooperation for 2025-2026 was also discussed, encompassing projects in agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and other sectors.

An agreement was reached to hold this year’s session of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, and an industrial exhibition.

The importance of joint efforts in implementing the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project was highlighted.

The sides also exchanged views on regional agenda issues.
