Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized khokims for ineffective activities in the field of attracting investments.

During a video conference chaired by the President, dedicated to priority tasks in the areas of investment, exports and international cooperation for 2024, it was noted that the efforts of some khokims on this issue did not bring the expected results.

For example, the khokim of Ferghana region made visits to Japan, Germany, Korea and China during 2022 and 2023, reaching agreements on 42 projects totaling US$1.8 billion. However, despite the past year, work on 39 projects cost US$1.5 billion never started.

The khokim of Syrdarya region has visited Korea and China over the past two years, concluding contracts on 17 projects worth US$180 million. However, work on 6 projects has been suspended.

It was decided that the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade will take over the implementation of these projects.

The Minister of Investment was instructed to carry out all calculations for 41 projects, prepare pre-project documents, present them to foreign investors and financial institutions, and begin practical work.
