In line with the presidential decree, Margaret Chan was awarded for for her outstanding contribution to the organization of the WHO activities in the field of healthcare and development of the primary medical and sanitary care, as well as implementation of the Global strategy of protection of mothers’ and children’s health.

President Islam Karimov handed over the award at the International symposium “National model of protection of maternal and child health in Uzbekistan: Healthy mother – healthy child” on 26 November 2011.
