President of Uzbekistan attends a meeting with German business leaders

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 September 2023, in accordance with the business program, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the Economic Forum organized in Berlin under the auspices of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.

The event was also attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The German side was represented by the Head of the Federal Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Tasks Wolfgang Schmidt, the State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Udo Philipp, and the Chairman of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Cathrina Claas-Muehlhaeuser.

In addition, the forum was attended by heads of leading German companies and banks, such as CLAAS, Siemens Energy, Knauf, Linde, Papenburg, BayWa, WILO, IPEX-Bank, Commerzbank, AKA, Mangold Consulting, Deutsche Bahn, DB E.C.O., Euler Hermes, Ernst Klett, SMS Group, Deutsche Bank, Evonik Industries, John Deere, BASF, Airbus and others.

The Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized with great satisfaction that today’s event is evidence of the growing interest of German business in expanding activities in the Central Asian market.

The prospects for investment, innovation, and technological cooperation, the implementation of cooperation projects in high-tech industries, as well as in green energy, deep processing of raw materials, logistics and transport, and personnel training were noted.

“Together, we are doing a lot of work to modernize the leading sectors of the country’s economy, creating effective value chains and thousands of new jobs. We are interested in the emergence of new platforms and permanent platforms for open dialogue”, the President of Uzbekistan noted.

The development of trade, economic, and investment relations between Uzbekistan and Germany in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The number of joint projects and enterprises has doubled.

“All of you do a lot for developing multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Germany, and your projects are examples of long-term successful cooperation. And I appreciate it”, the Leader of Uzbekistan emphasized.

The President of Uzbekistan, focusing on further enhancing collaboration with German companies, outlined several promising areas.

First of all, this is the development of cooperation and expansion of the presence of German companies in Uzbekistan. The President of Uzbekistan noted the presence of great opportunities for the production of in-demand industrial products.

To support regional projects, the Leader of Uzbekistan proposed holding a Central Asian exhibition of high industrial technologies from leading German manufacturers, in Uzbekistan.

Among the most essential areas of partnership is green energy. The President of Uzbekistan noted the successful experience and promising projects of cooperation with German partners in developing alternative energy.

At the regional level, it was proposed to develop and adopt a Cooperation Program with German engineering and design centers and industrial holdings to implement green economy projects.

The President touched upon the importance of joint projects in critical raw materials with the introduction of advanced technological solutions in their processing and the organization of exports of industrial products.

The primary attention was paid to food security issues.

“Central Asia has all the necessary potential to fully meet domestic needs and organize the export of quality food products to European countries”, the Leader of Uzbekistan noted.

In this context, readiness was expressed to attract energy-efficient and digital technologies of German companies to Uzbekistan’s agricultural and water sectors.

It was proposed to hold joint regional events in the food sector.

The President also focused on cooperation in transport and logistics. The importance of developing effective routes connecting Central Asia with Europe was emphasized. For expert support of transport projects, it was proposed to attract specialists from leading German organizations and companies.

An important direction for developing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany is the support of initiatives for training qualified specialists.

In conclusion, the President of Uzbekistan confirmed his readiness to continue fully supporting business initiatives and joint investment projects in Uzbekistan, noting that Central Asia is a region of great opportunities for German business representatives.
