Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the second day of his state visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with his wife, arrived in the city of Fuzuli.

The distinguished guests were welcomed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife.

The city got its name in honor of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fizuli.

Until the nineties of the last century, industry and agriculture developed in the Fizuli region. There were libraries, houses of culture, clubs, museums, theaters, parks and other cultural facilities.

In 2020, large-scale restoration work began in Fuzuli region and the city of the same name. An international airport, a modern residential complex have already been built in the city, blocks of residential buildings, medical and educational institutions are being built. The restoration of Fizuli is planned to be completed by 2026.
