Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of 4 February for an official visit.

Upon arrival at the international airport, the Uzbek leader was greeted by the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, Johari bin Abdul, Minister of Education Zambry Abdul Kadir, and other officials. An honor guard was formed in his honor, and the flags of both countries were raised.

During the visit, President Mirziyoyev held a meeting at the airport with the Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, where they discussed key issues for the upcoming high-level agenda. Special attention was given to expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation, organizing mutual visits, enhancing the work of friendship groups, and developing collaboration in the legislative field.

Discussions also focused on promoting the implementation of major investment, infrastructure, social, and cultural-humanitarian projects.

The main events of the visit will take place on 5 February. President Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Ibrahim will hold high-level talks and participate in the Uzbek-Malaysian Business Forum. Following the summit, a series of intergovernmental and interagency agreements are expected to be signed.
