President of Uzbekistan Arrives in Fuzuli City
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of his ongoing state visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the city of Fuzuli.
At the airport, the high-ranking guest was welcomed by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli and other official representatives.
Fuzuli — a city named after the prominent Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Muhammad Fuzuli — is located in the southwest of the country and has historically been regarded as the "southern gateway" to the Karabakh region.
Since 2020, Fuzuli District has been undergoing a large-scale reconstruction program. One of its flagship projects is the Fuzuli International Airport, commissioned in 2021. At the same time, construction continues in the city on modern residential complexes, healthcare and educational institutions, as well as transport and utility infrastructure.
A particularly significant milestone in the bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan was the opening of the Mirzo Ulugbek School in August 2023. Built at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, this modern educational institution has become a symbol of the strong friendship and fraternal ties between the peoples of the two countries.
