Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 November, at the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Baku for a working visit.
At Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the President of Uzbekistan was welcomed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and other officials.
During the visit, Mirziyoyev is scheduled to participate in events at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Meetings with foreign leaders and heads of international organizations are also planned.
The Uzbek delegation will host a series of high-level events at COP29, focusing on issues such as preventing land degradation and desertification, promoting environmental education, and engaging youth in advancing the climate agenda.
More than 20 side events are planned at Uzbekistan’s National Pavilion, addressing socio-ecological challenges in the Aral Sea region, the development of a "green" economy, the adoption of renewable energy and water-saving technologies, food security, biodiversity conservation, and other crucialissues.
