State flags of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan were raised high and the guard of honor lined up at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport to welcome the high-ranking guest.
Along the entire way from the airport through to the Ulduz state residence allocated for Uzbek official delegation, avenues and streets in Azerbaijan’s capital city are decorated with national symbols of our two countries.
The sides consider the current visit as a natural extension of the two leaders’ Tashkent summit in September 2010, and as an opportunity – within the framework of regular political dialogue – to discuss in detail the consolidation of traditionally friendly interstate ties, the expansion of relations up to a new step across cooperation areas. The agenda includes exchange of views on key aspects of current regional and international affairs in the spirit of friendship and strategic partnership.
Importance in the impending negotiations is to be attached to prospective issues in enhancing the interaction in trade and economic, investment, transport and communications spheres, in the enlargement of mutual trade turnover as well as expansion of contacts in cultural and humanitarian area.
As it was reported earlier, the two heads of state are expected to adopt a joint declaration, which will identify priorities in the further development of bilateral cooperation. In addition, a number of other intergovernmental and interagency documents are to be signed toward the end of the official visit.
