President of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov receives Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 March, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, Turkmenistan news agency reported.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the time taken, Bakhtiyor Saidov conveyed heartfelt greetings from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who addressed the wishes of well-being and prosperity to all Turkmen citizens, to the head of state, as well as to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. At the same time, it was noted that the neighboring state attaches great importance to the traditionally friendly dialogue with fraternal Turkmenistan.

Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, emphasizing that Turkmenistan is also invariably committed to trusting, good neighborly relations with Uzbekistan, which have a long history.

As noted during the meeting, the bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries planned during the current visit to Ashgabat of the acting head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry will provide a good opportunity to exchange views on priority issues of interstate dialogue, topical aspects of the regional and international agenda. This will also serve to further strengthen fruitful cooperation across its entire spectrum.

In this context, the strategic nature of the Turkmen-Uzbek partnership was emphasized, which in recent years has reached a qualitatively new stage of development. It was noted that the countries are united not only by geographical location, but also by a historically established cultural and spiritual community.

Significant factors in the development of effective cooperation are the full mutual understanding and openness inherent in dialogue at the highest level. This, in turn, creates a solid foundation for a comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership, filling it with new concrete content.

In this context, the huge contribution to strengthening the foundation of bilateral relations and their active building up in the modern era of the Hero-Arkadag and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was emphasized.

It was also noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan interact constructively in the international arena. The countries have close or similar positions on regional and global issues, primarily related to ensuring global peace and security, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Successfully cooperating within the framework of the United Nations, a number of other international and regional structures, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan provide mutual support for each other’s initiatives and proposals.

In the context of the multifaceted Turkmen-Uzbek partnership, a special place is given to the trade and economic sphere. In this regard, the positive dynamics of bilateral trade, interaction in the fuel and energy, transport and logistics, agricultural sectors, as well as in other areas was noted.

Along with this, the progressive nature is inherent in traditional contacts in the cultural, scientific, educational fields, which is a kind of bridge for further rapprochement between the two fraternal peoples. An important component of Turkmen-Uzbek relations is also inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Taking the opportunity, Bakhtiyor Saidov conveyed his best wishes to the Turkmen people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov expressed confidence that strategic interstate cooperation, based on the inviolable bonds of friendship and good neighborliness, would continue to grow stronger and successfully develop for the common good.
