Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Abdusalom Azizov has resigned as President of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA).
According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) website, the position of acting president of UFA has been appointed to the first vice-president, Ravshan Irmatov.
The UFA announced on its Telegram channel that an extraordinary congress of the association will be held on 22 February. Until then, Ravshan Irmatov will carry out the duties of president. Elections for a new UFA president are scheduled for the following month.
Abdusalom Azizov became president of the association in July 2019, replacing Achilbay Ramatov, first deputy prime minister. He was re-elected for this position in September 2021.
In November 2024, Azizov was relieved from his post as Chairman of the State Security Service (SSS), and in early December, he took up the role of Deputy Presidential Advisor on Youth Affairs.
