President of the Olympic Council of Asia arrives in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah arrived in Tashkent today. President of AIBA Gafur Rakhimov, President of the National Olympic Committee Umid Akhmatjanov, representatives of the NOC and the media met the honored guest at the Islam Karimov International Airport.

The delegation also included the President of the International Kurash Association, the director of the Asian Games of 2018, Haydar Farman, and the Secretary of the OCA, Lucien Alvarez.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the issues of promoting a healthy lifestyle and sports in the country. The head of the country noted that Uzbekistan is worthy to accept the Asian Games.

The leadership of the National Olympic Committee began work on the project, and the Asian Olympic Council submitted an application to host the 2030 Asian Games in two cities of Uzbekistan - Tashkent and Samarkand. In addition to Uzbekistan, countries like Qatar, India and the Philippines have applied for the Asian Games-2030.

In order to conduct a more detailed dialogue, to assess the possibility of holding complex competitions in Uzbekistan, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and a delegation of guests arrived in Tashkent. The adoption and holding of the Asian Games is a major project, in the implementation of which many nuances and subtleties of the organization are taken into account. This includes the construction of sports facilities, a campus for sports delegations of the participating countries, issues related to logistics, the organization of a convenient route and transport, side events, broadcasting and much more. These issues will be discussed by the parties for two days.
