Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The fruitful Uzbek-French summit has ended.

During the two-day stay of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a number of joint events took place in ancient and beautiful Samarkand.

On 1 November, the heads of state met on Registan Square and walked together through Samarkand at night, also visiting the Eternal City park.

Today, high-level negotiations took place in narrow and expanded formats, following which the leaders agreed to bring interstate relations to the level of strategic partnership. A Joint Statement was adopted, a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents were signed.

The heads of state took part in the opening of a joint business forum with the participation of representatives of leading French companies and banks.

In the afternoon, the Presidents planted a tree together in the Samarkand Congress Center and got acquainted with the exhibition of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. The opening of a branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand took place.

The French delegation got acquainted with the historical and architectural pearls of Samarkand with great interest.

At the end of the visit, President Emmanuel Macron was conducted by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the airport. The heads of state said a warm farewell to each other.
