President Mirziyoyev Inspects New Airport at “Tashkent-Vostochny” Site
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 August, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new airport developed on the basis of the “Tashkent-Vostochny” airfield.
Amid the country’s active development and strengthening international standing, transport infrastructure has become strategically important. The business aviation complex at “Tashkent-Vostochny” is one of the key projects in this area. Construction began in 2017, and despite the pandemic and other challenges, the project has been successfully completed.
The airport covers a total area of 561 hectares. The four-kilometer-long runway and three taxiways have been fully reconstructed, enabling it to accommodate aircraft of any weight. The apron can host 20 aircraft, and modern hangars have been built for Boeing 787s, A320s, business jets, and helicopters, providing safe storage conditions.
The complex includes VIP and CIP terminals. The hall for high-ranking guests is equipped for official meetings, negotiations, and briefings. The CIP terminal can serve up to 100 passengers per hour and features shops and dining areas.
The airport is equipped with modern radio and meteorological systems of ICAO III-A category, ensuring safe take-offs and landings in adverse weather conditions.
Thanks to its convenient location, the new facility will become an important transport hub for the capital and New Tashkent, expand opportunities for international visits and business trips, improve conditions for foreign investors, stimulate economic activity and service sector development, and create new jobs.
President Mirziyoyev also met with members of the public and senior citizens, emphasizing the project’s significance:
"After long preparations, we have built a new airport that provides a high level of service for our country’s guests. This will help ease the load on Tashkent International Airport. A large new complex is also planned at another location. Massive projects continue across all regions. Let these new facilities strengthen our well-being, serve the people, and contribute to peace in the country."
