President joins Navruz celebrations in Tashkent’s Rohat mahalla
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Navruz is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Uzbekistan, and this year, on March 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Rohat Mahalla in Tashkent’s Bektemir district, where he took part in festive events.
Rohat Mahalla, known for its focus on trade and services, is home to around 4,000 residents. A new employment system is being actively implemented here, aimed at maximizing internal resources with the support of banks. As a result, around 100 people found jobs last year, 256 became self-employed, and 13 launched their own businesses. The mahalla is also home to two manufacturing enterprises and dozens of commercial and service facilities, ensuring convenience for local residents.
The President visited local enterprises and assessed the mahalla’s infrastructure, which includes modern streets, well-maintained residential buildings, educational and medical institutions, sports facilities, training centers, an amphitheater, and a handicrafts and library-information center. Special attention has been given to a center for the elderly, providing a space for social interaction and leisure.
During the celebrations, President Mirziyoyev participated in the traditional preparation of sumalak and had warm conversations with residents, including community elders. Discussions focused on plans for the year ahead, including measures to strengthen peace and stability, support entrepreneurship, and create new jobs.
"I am glad to see your mahalla flourishing and full of energy. We will continue expanding opportunities across all districts. The most important thing is to preserve peace and unity. Remember the past challenges at our borders? Today, we address all issues carefully, with political will. By establishing systematic work in 10,000 mahallas, we gain a clear understanding of local needs. Thanks to the ‘Mahalla Seven’ system, support reaches every household. Much remains to be done to increase incomes, reduce poverty, and develop youth policies. That is why we are focusing on education, especially for girls. A society where youth are educated and spiritually enriched will undoubtedly prosper."— said Shavkat Mirziyoyev
Children and teenagers in Rohat Mahalla have access to quality education at a general education school, a music and art school, the Barkamol Avlod center, and an academic lyceum. Recently, a new preschool facility was completed, creating additional opportunities for early childhood development.
