Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Bostanlyk district in Tashkent region to assess the current results and prospects of ongoing development projects.
Tourism remains the key driver of economic growth in this picturesque mountainous area. In recent years, the infrastructure in the region has significantly improved, making the district attractive for year-round tourism.
Various recreational and wellness complexes, ski resorts, sanatoriums, children's camps, and food service establishments have been built.
Five years ago, Bostanlyk district had only 26 tourist facilities, offering 2,240 accommodation places. Over this period, investments in tourism development exceeded 2 trillion soums.
This led to the opening of 59 large tourist facilities, increasing the number of accommodation places to more than 13,000. The main highway was reconstructed, and new transportation routes were constructed.
As a result, tourist traffic has increased twelvefold: while around 850,000 people visited the area annually five years ago, by the first 11 months of this year, the district has hosted 12 million tourists.
On the banks of the Chirchik River, a new tourist complex called "Charvak Gates" is under construction, covering an area of about 25 hectares.
The project includes 16 multi-story residential buildings, 3 hotels, 2 supermarkets, over 60 service facilities, cafes, restaurants, a bank office, an aqua park, a musical fountain, and parking.
Environmental considerations are given special attention: solar panels will be installed on building rooftops, and a glass bridge will be constructed over the river. The complex will be able to accommodate up to 5,000 visitors daily and will create 2,500 jobs, accounting for seasonal needs.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued instructions to expand the range of tourism services, develop active tourism, and create similar complexes in other districts. He also emphasized the environmental aspects, instructing the beautification of green spaces within the new complex.
